October's player spotlight focuses on Ashton Ellison, a TOPSoccer player from the Cheyenne Soccer Club. Ashton's parent's tell us he has been playing soccer with siblings for over ten years, but started playing organized soccer with the Cheyenne Soccer Club TOPSoccer program about three years ago.
The TOPSoccer program gives Ashton the unique opportunity to play soccer with a broad range of kids from around the community. He has built many friendships through this program and has gained confidence and independence while improving his soccer skills.
In addition to soccer, Ashton participates in the Cheyenne Central High School sign club. He also plays Special Olympics basketball and is a member of an adaptive dance class that performs twice a year. Ashton loves the outdoors and enjoys biking, swimming, camping and fishing. He also loves to spend time with his grandma and going to movies. His favorite food is hamburgers, burritos, bagels and chocolate ice cream. Ashton is a very social kid and really enjoys being with friends and family. He has the unique ability to sense when someone is having a bad day and is quick to offer a hug or high five to lift their spirits.
Here is what Carey Lam of the Cheyenne Soccer Club has to say about this remarkable young man, "Ashton started with the Cheyenne TOPSoccer program three years ago. In that time we have seen Ashton grow from a shy young man to an outgoing, amazing soccer player! He is one of the best teammates any of our athletes could ask for. He is kind, caring, and always willing to work hard! He scored two goals at the Colorado Border War last year and has a strong shot that no one wants to step in front of! He is a joy to be around and we are blessed to have him in our TOPsoccer program!"
